Cookie Policy

Last updated:

This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies mayclinik.com uses, what they do and how you can control them. For everything else about your personal data, see our Privacy Policy.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser. Local storage and session storage work in a similar way. When a page contains content from another service, such as a map or a video, that service can also store or read information in your browser. In this policy, “cookies” covers all of these technologies.

Some cookies are needed for the website or a feature you use to work. If you visit us from the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, analytics and marketing cookies are only used if you agree.

Your choice and how to change it

If you visit us from the EU, the EEA, the UK or Switzerland, a banner asks for your choice on your first visit. Accept all allows analytics and marketing cookies. Only necessary keeps them switched off. Until you choose, they stay switched off. If you visit us from another country, no banner is shown and analytics and marketing cookies are active from the first page. We recognise the country from your internet connection (see mc_cc below). Your choice is stored in your browser so that we do not ask again on every page.

Wherever you are, you can change your choice at any time with the button below. If you withdraw your consent or switch these cookies off, analytics and marketing tags stop from the next page you open. Cookies that were already set remain until they expire or until you delete them in your browser settings.

Necessary storage on our website

These entries are stored by mayclinik.com itself and are not used to track you on other websites:

  • mc_consent (local storage): remembers whether you chose “Accept all” or “Only necessary”. It stays until you delete your browser data.
  • mc_cc (cookie, 1 day): the two-letter country code of your internet connection, so that we know whether to show the cookie banner and can preselect your country dialling code in our contact forms. It contains no other information.
  • mc_attr (session storage): remembers how you arrived on our website (referring website, first page visited and campaign parameters in the link, such as utm_source or a click ID). It is deleted when you close the browser tab and is only sent to us if you submit an enquiry form.

Features provided by other companies

Some features on our pages are provided by other companies. When they load, your browser connects to the provider’s servers, which receive your IP address and browser details and may store or read cookies under their own privacy policies.

  • Live chat, Zoho SalesIQ (Zoho Corporation B.V.): loads right after a page has finished loading, or earlier if you tap or press a key. It stores identifiers in your browser so that a conversation continues as you move between pages, and it records the pages you view on our website.
  • Maps, Google Maps (Google Ireland Limited): the maps of our offices in the footer and on the contact page load when you scroll near them.
  • Videos, YouTube (Google Ireland Limited): patient videos are first shown as a preview image loaded from Google’s servers (i.ytimg.com). The video player only loads when you click play, and then in YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).
  • Reviews, Trustpilot (Trustpilot A/S): the review widget loads when you scroll near it.
  • WhatsApp (WhatsApp Ireland Limited): the WhatsApp buttons are ordinary links. Nothing is loaded from WhatsApp until you click one.

Analytics and marketing

We use Google Tag Manager (Google Ireland Limited) together with Google Consent Mode. Tag Manager loads on every page; it does not set cookies itself but decides which other tags may run. For visitors from the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage stays set to “denied” until they click “Accept all”, so these tags do not store or read cookies. The same applies to anyone who chose “Only necessary”. Depending on their settings, Google tags may still send signals without cookies or identifiers, for example that a page was viewed.

We use the following tools (from the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland only after you accept):

  • Google Analytics: cookies such as _ga and _ga_<ID> (up to 2 years) to count visits and understand how the website is used.
  • Google Ads: cookies such as _gcl_au (90 days) to measure which ads lead to enquiries and to show our ads to people who have visited our website.
  • Meta Pixel (Meta Platforms Ireland Limited): cookies such as _fbp (90 days) to measure the results of our Facebook and Instagram ads and to show them to relevant people.
  • Microsoft Clarity (Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited): heatmaps and session recordings to understand how visitors use the website, with cookies such as _clck (up to 1 year) and _clsk (1 day).
  • Conversion matching: our own first-party cookies that store a random event ID, your browser details (user agent) and your IP address so that our advertising measurement counts each enquiry once (up to 90 days).

Some of these providers may process data in the United States. How we protect transfers is explained in our Privacy Policy.

Managing cookies in your browser

You can also block or delete cookies and site data in your browser settings. If you block all cookies, the live chat, maps or videos may not work.

Changes and contact

We update this policy when we change the tools we use; the date at the top shows the current version. If you have questions, write to info@mayclinik.com.
