He received the ECFMG (Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates) certificate required for working in the United States by passing all written and oral exams in 2003 (ECFMG ID: 06553911; USMLE Steps 1-2-3). He completed a surgical rotation at Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, and an internal medicine rotation at Imperial College, Royal Brompton Hospital, London, UK. He completed his higher specialty training at Temple Health, Fox Chase Cancer Center, Philadelphia, one of the most renowned centers in the USA.

With the authority to see, examine, and operate on patients in the United States, Dr. Başaran performed approximately 500 surgical operations in various clinics. He participated in surgeries with prominent surgeons in the USA. In 2009, he worked with James Grotting, MD, and Louis Vasconez, MD, in Birmingham, Alabama, focusing on breast aesthetics. He also worked with Nazım Cerkeş for three months specializing in rhinoplasty. Dr. Başaran learned endoscopic (scarless) facial aesthetic procedures, his specialty, from Oscar Ramirez, a leading expert in this field (Miami, Florida). For breast reconstruction, he expanded his knowledge with Hilton Becker, MD, known for Becker prostheses.

For post-weight loss body contouring aesthetics, which has recently gained prominence, he trained with Joe Hunstad, MD (Charlotte, North Carolina), Ozan Sozer, MD (El Paso, Texas), and Constantino Mendieta, MD (Miami). He also traveled to Brazil, a leading country in body and buttock aesthetics, where he performed surgeries with Raul Gonzalez, MD, to further enhance his skills. Dr. Başaran learned migraine surgery, another area of his interest, from Bahmen Guyuron, MD (Cleveland, Ohio), who developed these techniques and taught them worldwide. Before returning to Turkey, he improved his knowledge of minimally invasive surgical procedures with Daniel Baker, MD (New York), a leading expert in ophthalmic and facial aesthetic surgery. Additionally, he received his basic microsurgery training from the Department of Neurosurgery at the University of Zurich, Switzerland, in 2007.
